About Keith
My fascination with diving started long before I ever put on a mask. As a kid, I saw Jaws, and instead of keeping me out of the water, it made me want to explore it. I dreamed of becoming a scuba diver and seeing the world beneath the surface for myself.
I earned my Open Water certification in 2002 and have been pursuing that dream ever since. My diving has taken me from the Maldives to Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, including Ocho Rios and Negril, and Palm Beach, Florida. I also enjoy freshwater springs and have logged extensive lake dives across Texas.
Today, I am a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in Teaching Status and a DAN Emergency First Response Instructor. I am affiliated with Sugar Land Dive Center in the Houston area, where I teach and assist with scuba training in the classroom, pool and open water.
After more than two decades as a diver, becoming an instructor gives me the opportunity to help new divers discover the underwater world and help certified divers become safer, more confident and more capable in the water.
My instructor credentials include Peak Performance Buoyancy, PADI AWARE, Dive Against Debris, and AWARE Coral Reef Conservation. My diving background also includes Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Enriched Air Nitrox, Peak Performance Buoyancy and lionfish training. Conservation is an important part of how I approach diving, particularly protecting reefs, reducing marine debris and encouraging responsible interaction with the underwater environment.
Outside the water, I’m also the founder of Skulls Tees & Clothing Company, an apparel company focused on the scuba diving industry. It brings together two worlds I’ve spent much of my life around: diving and apparel. We work with dive shops, resorts, instructors and dive organizations to create custom apparel for retail, training, trips and events. When I’m not diving, teaching or working on Skulls Tees, you’ll usually find me at home with my wife, Kim, and our very full house of rescued animals.

Scuba diving has always been about what comes next: your first breath underwater, your first certification, becoming more comfortable and capable in the water, exploring a new destination, or discovering a completely new reason to dive.
As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, I want ScubaKeith to be a place where divers can learn, improve, explore and get involved. That includes scuba training and continuing education, dive travel and adventures, conservation projects, and stories and lessons from life underwater.
I teach and assist with scuba training through Sugar Land Dive Center in the Houston area, with an emphasis on developing safe, confident divers who genuinely enjoy being in the water.
ScubaKeith will also continue to follow my own journey as an instructor and diver. There is always another skill to learn, another reef to explore, another destination on the map, and another reason to get wet.
